Players create their own playable character, choosing their characters tribe and gender. Appearances can be changed through different Headgear and Body Armor equipped. Hair color is also customizable (except for Yukes), though only by talking to Artemicion. While each tribe can use any weapon, only the tribe that specializes in a weapon type can gain access to that weapon type's full moveset.

Clavats - The Clavat tribe's specialty weapons are Swords, with Axes and Scythes folded into the same category.
Selkies - The Selkie tribe's specialty weapons are the Rackets that they used as weapons in the original Crystal Chronicles, as well as Bows, like they used in Ring of Fates. The Racket category also includes Fans, while Cannons and Slingshots are included in the Bow category.
Lilties - The Lilty tribe's specialty weapons are Spears, which they used in the original Crystal Chronicles, as well as the Hammers they used in Ring of Fates, with Maces folded into the Hammer category as well.
Yukes - The Yuke tribe's specialty weapons are Staves like they used in Ring of Fates, with Books and Bells folded into the same category.
