Super Robot Taisen Alpha, literally translated as "Super Robot Wars Alpha" (スーパーロボット大戦α, Sūpā Robotto Taisen Arufa), is a turn-based tactical role-playing game (RPG) originally released for the PlayStation console in 2000. Developed by Banpresto and published by Bandai, it became a major hit in Japan, particularly among fans of giant robot (mecha) anime.  The game's biggest draw is its inclusion of iconic giant robots from various popular mecha anime series. This allows fans to see these machines and their pilots team up and fight together in a single universe. Some examples of included franchises are Mobile Suit Gundam, Mazinger Z, and The Super Dimension Fortress Macross.
